I need you to contact Virginia’s Attorney General Jason Miyares right away, because he is the key to repealing gun control in Virginia.

Please add your name to our pre-written letter to let AG Miyares know that we expect him to do everything in his power to defeat the Universal Background Check law that is registering virtually every gun buyer in the state.

Then follow up your email with a call to him at: 804-786-2071.

But first, let me explain to you the situation.

When the anti-gun Democrats took over all the levers of power in Richmond under Governor Northam, they quickly passed several gun control restrictions.

One of those anti-gun laws imposed Universal Background Checks, which requires practically every transfer of a firearm to require a background check and paperwork at a licensed gun dealer.

As you know, this law is clearly backdoor gun registration!

GOA and the Virginia Citizens Defense League challenged the law, and achieved a historic victory, exempting young adults from the law.

But we are not content to just settle for a partial victory—we want to strike down this law so that NO ONE’S gun purchases are registered. This is why GOA and VCDL have informed Attorney General Miyares that we plan to continue our lawsuit to bring down the entire law.

Unfortunately, Attorney General Miyares is NOT WILLING to support our efforts and still insists on enforcing—and defending—the unconstitutional law passed by anti-gun zealots.

So please add your name to our pre-written letter to encourage AG Miyares to do everything in his power to defeat the Universal Background Registration Check law.

Then, please follow up your email by calling him at: 804-786-2071!

When you call, tell AG Miyares to NOT ENFORCE Virginia’s Universal Background Checks law and to NOT OPPOSE GOA’s lawsuit.  Tell him that you oppose his defense of the Democrats’ radical anti-gun agenda. Remind him that imposing background registration checks for PRIVATE gun sales:

  • Violates the “shall not be infringed” portion of the Second Amendment in the U.S. Constitution and Art. I, Sec. 13 of the Virginia Constitution;
  • Violates the Supreme Court’s Bruen decision, which deems every gun law without a historical analogue to our early founding as unconstitutional—and to be sure, there were no Universal Background Checks in 1791; and
  • Violates his oath of office, as an Attorney General should not enforce a law that infringes upon the U.S. & VA Constitutions.

Again, please call Attorney General Miyares at 804-786-2071.

But please add your name to our pre-written letter to let AG Miyares know that we expect him to NOT ENFORCE Virginia’s Universal Background Checks and to NOT OPPOSE GOA’s lawsuit against the law.
