Washington, D.C. – Gun Owners of America (GOA), in conjunction with Young Conservatives of Texas (YCT), today announced plans to conduct an active shooter response training in Seguin. The simulated training will take place at the Secure America Now Training Center on October 26th, with the aim of better preparing individuals involved in education on how to respond to a threat and mitigate casualties.
Instructors from Paraclete Consulting will conduct the training, and individuals interested in attending can RSVP here.
Leigh Gibson, GOA’s Texas State Director, issued the following statement:
“GOA has been at the forefront of the fight to arm teachers and staff in schools for decades, and what’s just as critical to that mission is ensuring those individuals are well prepared to respond to a serious threat.
“Armed teachers and staff, coupled with school resource officers and other enhanced security measures make schools hard targets for would-be mass killers, which is exactly what society needs to do.
“We hope this event will be educational and informative and encourage anyone involved in education to attend.”
Virginia King, the Chair of YCT’s local Texas State University chapter, added:
“With the threat of anti-gunners trying to disarm law-abiding gun owners as a knee-jerk response to tragedy, it is more crucial than ever for responsible gun owners to be prepared to protect themselves in times of crisis. We are excited to be partnering with GOA to put on this active shooter response training, as we both hold the sanctity of life and the preservation of freedom as core principles. Young Conservatives of Texas stands firmly against radical gun confiscation efforts that would leave law-abiding citizens defenseless.”
