All Hands are Required to Stop a Ban on Commonly Held Arms in Colorado!

The State Assembly is continuing to expand its draconian edicts that will eviscerate remnants of lawful firearms ownership in Colorado.

House Bill 23-1230 is intended to stop all legal commerce and would significantly curtail ownership of commonly held arms that are protected under the Second Amendment. Of the roughly 393 million lawfully owned firearms in the United States, over 20 million are of the type that would be arbitrarily banned as so-called Assault Weapons.

Of special concern to all current owners, you may not sell or transfer a firearm of this type, and a one-word amendment in committee will prohibit existing ownership. Additionally, all owners of “grandfathered” arms would have to carry around documentation proving ownership before the legislation enactment date. Since when did we have to show our “papers” to prove ownership of arms that are necessary for the security of a “free state?

We have allowed this totalitarian non-sense for far too long…

These un-American proclamations are clearly unconstitutional based upon self-evident truths and right reason. The Second Amendment to the United States Constitution protects “the right of the people to keep and bear arms,” as well as its auxiliary rights. The Supreme Court, in D.C. v. Heller, McDonald v. Chicago, and New York State Rifle and Pistol Assoc., Inc. v. Bruen, has affirmed this right to be a “fundamental” and “individual” right of “the people.” The Court has also held that the Second and Fourteenth Amendments protect the right to possess and carry arms in defense of life, as well as its corollaries. In fact, the Court in Heller and again in Bruen found that the Second Amendment “elevates above all other interests the right of law-abiding, responsible citizens to use arms’ for self-defense.” Thus, the proper role of government is to secure the God-given and unalienable rights of the people!

This legislation is a clear and present danger to our liberties that the government is tasked with protecting. Yet, the Colorado legislature is poised to pass this regulation irrespective of the fact that there is no text, history, and tradition to support these types of capricious bans. It is also blatantly apparent that the Democratic Party controlled legislature does not care how much it will cost the taxpayer to defend these unconstitutional infringements within the courts.

These inanimate tools are commonly owned for self-defense of the individual and the nation. As tools, they carry no characteristics of intent. It is the person employing the tool that imparts the intention of good or evil. Should a pen carry a stigma for the operator’s inability to spell correctly? Such is the lack of right reason that lies at the heart of these unprincipled laws and are misguided “just do something” policies that do not address the root causes of the complex issues facing our country.

The concerning and heart-breaking violent crime that America is currently grappling with, is a social issue that is inherently linked to the human soul. Banning tools that have saved countless lives will not solve the underlying social problems within our nation. Rather, it will only strip law-abiding citizens of the right to “keep and bear arms” in defense of their life, liberty, and property. Meaning, that these edicts will only create more victims…

“We the People” must stand for future generations of Coloradoans and defend our God-given rights!

We need to aggressively, but respectfully, fight with the pen (or mouse), because a government that forces the citizenry to ask permission before exercising their God-given rights or denies whole groups of citizens essential liberties is one that views those cherished freedoms as mere privileges to be revoked at their impulsive whims.

Moreover, if we allow elected officials to behave in such a shameful and pompous manner, how long before they start to believe that they are a priestly class of “law givers” lording over the feeble peasantry?

Our rights are not only self-evidently true, but they are also endowed upon us by or Creator. Thus, they are not grant by government nor can they be stripped away. That timeless truth is such, regardless of whether the infringing misconduct is instigated by a lawless individual or by the actions of an unjust government.

If we wish to have a rebirth of freedom within Colorado, it must begin within each of us. Once we grasp the First Principles that govern our liberties and the implied civic duties, the next step is to hold our elected officials accountable for their failure to defend our rights.

Colorado, are You Going to Allow Such Obviously Gutless Surrendering of Your God-given Rights? Or are You Bold Enough to Face Down these Socialists and Defend Your Liberties?

That is why it is imperative to please show up at the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday the 29th at 1:30 in HCR 0107.

Show up and Sign up here!

Now, it is up to you to hold the line and assert your rights against this tidal wave of authoritarianism!

Does Colorado still have the requisite moral courage to stand in the breach against this despotism?
